Together with the release of the entirely brand new expansion to the Divergent Universe gamemode in the form of the Arcadian Chronicles Update, players will be able to partake in brand new never before seen mechanics, gameplay, events, occurrences and more.

At the beginning of each Divergent Universe run, players will be able to choose 1 out of 3 different Masks to wear, with each Mask granting the players different types of effects and buffs that will determine your playstyle for the run moving forward. There are a total of 9 masks, each with their own unique effects that wants players to enter certain specific types of areas to activate their effects and grants players special buff effects upon fulfilling their conditions.

Everytime players fulfill the masks’ conditions, the Mask will gain special Wishpower points, which can level up the mask upon reaching a certain amount of Wishpoints. Every time the mask levels up, it will offer players 1 out of 3 different Wish effects, allowing players to modify their card decks or grant powerful buffs to the Mask’s playstyle. For every 4 levels the Mask gains, it will trigger a special buff effect, allowing players to once again pick 1 out of 3 powerful effects that will influence the gameplay of your run massively depending on the mask.

Brand New Core Mechanic – Card Deck, Beacons and New Node Types

Another important change to this new Divergent Universe update is the brand new Card deck system. At the beginning of each run, each of the mask players have chosen will have their dedicated card decks, each with their own sets of nodes that players can use to advance in the Divergent Universe.

These cards function similarly to the usual areas in old Divergent Universes, each signifying a type of Area players can enter: Combat, Elite Combat, Domain, Wealth, Store, etc. However, unlike the old system where the areas are pre-determined and randomized before entering them, players can now have a decent amount of control of which areas they can enter by controlling their card decks. 

These areas have been turned into cards, with 3 of these cards being drawn when you move throughout the Divergent Universe. The card deck is divided into the draw pile and the discarded pile, with the draw pile signifying the potential upcoming areas players can go through and the discarded piles being ones that players did not pick when moving through the Divergent Universes. By removing and adding certain cards into the card deck, players can manipulate it so that you can enter the type of areas you want at all time by filling the deck with all of the card types you want. Like a card deck filled with Rewards Domains or a card deck with all Combat Domains. The process of managing your card deck will also be influenced by your Mask’s buffs, so players should also pay attention to this.

Additionally, each card deck will have a level assigned to them, with the higher the level, the more rewarding or challenging the area will become. For example, lv 1 Domain Cards will only have 1 Occurrence in each area, while lv 5 Domain Cards will have 3 different Occurrences in each area, making it important for players to level up these Cards before entering them.

Finally, when going through the domains, players will be able to assign special beacons onto these different cards, with each beacon initiating a special effect upon entering the card’s area. The beacon’s effects are generally randomized and can be both positive and negative depending on the type of beacon you assigned to the cards.

Mechanic Revamp – Blessings, Curios and Equation Changes

Of course, with such a major change for the Divergent Universe, all of the Blessings, Curios and Equations in the game mode has also been updated to fit with the new theme and the new Elation path gameplay.

The most major change for the Blessings and Equations are the changes to how the Elation Blessings and Equations works. Unlike previously where the Elation Blessings focused mainly around Follow Up Attacks and Follow Up Damage, the Elation Blessings and Equations have been reworked to buff the brand new Elation path and its mechanics. Some Elation blessings still provide beneficial effects to Follow Up Attack characters, however, the majority of them now revolve around supplying and amplifying the team’s Elation damage output.

Additionally, the Curios in the Divergent Universe have also been changed, with various Curio effects relating to Chrysos Heir Blessings being reworked into brand new Curios that manipulate the card deck and grants effects based on how players uses their Mask or Card Decks to advance in the Divergent Universe.

– Gladiator Mask: gains extreme benefits through challenging Combat and Elite Domains. Fight as many enemies as possible when using this Mask.

– Camera Mask: gains extreme benefits when going into Occurrence Domains. Generate and go into as many different Occurrence and Rewards domains as possible when using this Mask.

– Fortune Cat Mask: gains extreme benefits through gaining and spending Cosmic Fragments. Generate and go into as many different Wealth, Store and Forge areas as possible to spend Cosmic Fragments to gain some back and get amazing benefits when using the Mask.

– Cringe Mask: Remove Domains grants amazing benefits. Players should remove as many unwanted domains as possible and enter Escapade nodes to gain amazing effects when using this Mask.

– Chariot Mask: Gains benefits when entering high level domains. Players should enter as many high level domains as possible in order to gain extreme benefits from this Mask.

– Mechatron Mask: Gains extreme benefits when players draw multiple Domains of the same type at the draw phase. This mask grants a lot of redraw attempts and grants massive amounts of benefits when players draw the same type of domains at the same time each draw phase.

– Horse Mask: Gains extreme benefits based on the amount of Beacons attached to each Area Card. Players should gain and attach as many different beacons on the different cards as possible when using this Mask.

– Slipshod Mask: Gains benefits when entering high level domains and is capable of randomizing domains constantly at the draw phase. Be careful of the chances when using this Mask and plan your run accordingly to the RNG aspect of the Mask.

– “Two” Mask: Gains Double rewards when level up but also takes a longer time to level up, this mask allows players to essentially go big or go home. Players should focus on boosting the level of this mask as much as possible to gain the most amount of rewards and benefits from it.

Make Full Use Of Rental Characters

Unlike the old Divergent Universes where players can only use characters that they own with their own builds and Lightcones, the new Divergent Universe has opened itself up to allow players to used special rental characters that you don’t own in order to be able to form powerful teams to challenge the gamemode.
